From 22 to 30 April 2026, the second training course organised within the Erasmus+ project BRAVE – Building Resilience and Advancing Virtual Engagement took place in Romania.
The mobility brought together three educators from Cyprus, who participated in an intensive learning programme focused on public speaking, confidence building, digital communication and innovative teaching methods.
The BRAVE project was created to address the growing need for stronger communication skills among adult learners and educators. It places particular emphasis on reducing public speaking anxiety, improving digital engagement and helping participants communicate more confidently in professional and educational environments.
Developing Public-Speaking Confidence
Throughout the course, the participants explored practical techniques for delivering clearer and more engaging presentations. The training covered speech structure, voice control, articulation, posture, eye contact and the effective use of gestures.
The educators also participated in exercises designed to help them manage nervousness and feel more comfortable when speaking in front of an audience. Through gradual exposure to different speaking situations, they were able to practise presentations, discussions and professional communication in a supportive learning environment.
Digital Tools for Communication and Education
An important part of the course focused on the use of digital technologies in public-speaking and communication training.
The participants explored digital presentation tools, interactive learning resources and methods for incorporating technology into their educational activities. They also examined how artificial intelligence and virtual environments can provide personalised feedback and create realistic speaking scenarios.
These activities supported the development of both communication and digital competences, helping the educators prepare for increasingly technology-based learning and working environments.
Innovative Teaching Approaches
The course was also designed to strengthen the participants’ teaching and facilitation skills.
The educators learned new methods for engaging adult learners, organising interactive sessions and supporting people who experience anxiety or low confidence when communicating. Particular attention was given to inclusive teaching approaches that can be adapted to participants with different learning needs, levels of digital experience and personal backgrounds.
Practical exercises, peer feedback and reflection sessions enabled the participants to analyse their own communication styles and identify ways to improve their professional practice.
Learning Through Practice
The training followed an interactive and practice-oriented approach. Participants progressed from guided exercises to more complex speaking tasks and real-life simulations.
By the end of the course, the educators had strengthened their ability to:
- organise and deliver structured presentations;
- communicate ideas clearly and persuasively;
- use non-verbal communication more effectively;
- manage public-speaking anxiety;
- apply digital tools in training and education;
- provide constructive feedback to adult learners;
- create inclusive and engaging learning activities.
The expected learning outcomes of BRAVE include stronger public-speaking abilities, improved confidence, better digital fluency and greater capacity to support adult learners experiencing communication barriers.
Supporting Long-Term Impact
Following the course, the three Cypriot educators will be able to transfer the acquired knowledge and methods to their own organisation and local learning communities.
Their experience will contribute to improving future training activities, supporting adult learners and promoting more inclusive approaches to communication education. The new tools and methodologies can be integrated into workshops, professional-development programmes and other educational activities in Cyprus.
The second BRAVE course represented another important step in the project’s effort to strengthen resilience, confidence and virtual engagement among educators and adult learners.
Through practical training, European mobility and the exchange of educational experience, BRAVE continues to support individuals in becoming more confident, digitally capable and effective communicators.
